Algorithmic D-Modules

Winter Semester 2008/2006

Markus.Rosenkranz@oeaw.ac.at
Georg.Regensburger@oeaw.ac.at
Guenter.Landsmann@risc.uni-linz.ac.at

Time (currently): Monday 10:15 - 11:45
Locationi (currently): T112
First Lecture: October 6

The time (and place) of the lecture is subject to change, depending on the schedules of the participants.

This lecture gives an overview of applications of Gröbner bases for the Weyl algebra to systems of partial differential equations (following the book "Gröbner Deformations of Hypergeometric Differential Equations" by Saito, Sturmfels and Takayama).

It is a continuation of the two lectures "D-Modules 1 & 2" given in the previous two semesters, where the focus was more on theoretical issues (following Coutinho's book "A Primer of Algebraic D-Modules"). While attendence of the previous lectures is certainly an advantage (providing a justification and deeper understanding of various key results to be used), it is by no means a prerequisite since we will introduce all the necessary concepts.
